are-able Case Study: Using Data to Improve Service Delivery

The Client

are-able is a not-for-profit organisation that helps people with a disability find open employment opportunities. Over the past 30 years, are-able has helped more than 40,000 people find meaningful and inclusive employment, improving their lives and enriching local communities.

The Challenge

Altivio Consulting partnered with are-able, a provider of Disability Employment Services (DES), to enhance their ability to use data as a strategic asset for improving service delivery and driving financial growth. With a strong and engaged client base already in place, are-able saw an opportunity to unlock greater value by gaining deeper insights into how different levels of support were being accessed and utilised and sought assistance from our team.

Solution

Our collaboration helped the client transform raw data into actionable intelligence, enabling more targeted service improvements and identifying clear pathways to increased revenue and operational efficiency. Our team implemented targeted operational strategies, including the introduction of focused reporting tools to better align service levels with customer needs. This strategic shift ensured that clients were matched to the appropriate support level based on their evolving requirements. A live financial model – updated daily – was implemented to dynamically track performance against targets, empowering operational leaders to adjust strategies in real time and capitalise on emerging opportunities.

As part of our engagement, the client also sought to understand where their operational staff were achieving job placements and how to improve long-term outcomes. Altivio’s Retention Monitoring Report examined placement trends through various lenses, such as type of work and industry. The placement outcome by industry report highlighted industries with high placement but
low outcome rates – providing early warnings on sustainability – and those that consistently produced strong outcomes.

Working with their DES reporting and financial modelling tools has significantly improved our operational efficiency at are-able. The integrated dashboards give us clear visibility over both financial health and contract performance, allowing us to act quickly and make informed decisions.
